Bees to the heather

This week I took two hives to the heather moors at Greenlawdean. The heather is just starting to show, but there is also plenty of other forage around to keep the bees going until the heather is in full swing. I'll leave the hives up there until around the first week in September, but this may vary a bit, depending on the weather.

Getting through the fondant

Its been a fairly mild winter so far and the bees are gobbling up the fondant. Two hives had their fondant replaced today, though bees were tightly clustered.

New Years Day

Repeated OA vaporisation on the hive with a big mite drop in December. Spent the afternoon making frames
